The plant added the extremely fast RapiSand™ ballasted flocculation system. This high-rate process uses rapid mixing and multi-stage flocculation, followed by sedimentation, to accelerate the settling rate of the ballasted floc particles and increase capacity. They settle up to 35 times faster, and the process reduces the space requirement by up to 90 percent, compared to conventional clarification.
