The community of San Pedro in Northern Baja California,
Mexico witnessed perhaps the fastest clarifier
installation in recent history. Working over the weekend
to beat an onerous 40 ton crane rental fee, Rigoberto
Laborin of Laval Tijuana, S.A. DE C.V. and his crew led
by Jassal Holguin installed a 75 ft. dia. COPC1 Clarifier
in the astounding time of seven hours. This following a
staggering four-hour install of two huge 150 HP Landy-7
aerators, also a record.
Rigo gives a humble account of the day, “We took 4
hours to install the two Landy surface aerators. The rest
of the weekend was spent installing the clarifier and
accessories.
I need to be honest, we did not finish installing the
aluminum grating or the aluminum railing.
We had a crew of three guys and our 16K# crane for the
installation of the stainless steel weir and baffles. We
had another group of five guys and the people from the
crane company to finish erecting the rest of the clarifier
(including welded stainless steel weirs and baffles) in a
total of twelve hours.
So it was a great weekend, everybody worked like mad,
and the crane was off (the jobsite) that Sunday night.
For the money part we paid double their salary for those
sixteen hours plus a bonus, for not using the crane more
days.
Like I always say - I’m a blessed person, why did God
send these kind of people, to work side by side with
me? My only answer is that, Mother Nature knows that
a lot of people mess up her water, and only a few are
trying to fix it. So, for this reason she hand picks people
for us, like you have at WesTech, so we take care of her
water.”
Laval represents WesTech Engineering in Northern
Mexico for the sale and implementation of technologies
for the clean water, wastewater treatment and industrial
process infrastructure of the country.
Having completed the commissioning of many existing
treatment plants, the company has several large
projects in various stages of development that will soon
also be released for fabrication. These projects are badly
needed and will benefit the people of Mexico and the
environment of the entire region.
