Removing the bulk of free oils and greases from the plant wastewater streams reduces overloading and other problems in down stream treatment processes. WesTech API separators are a highly effeective choice for general refinery wastewater, tank wash, bilge and ballast water, desalter waste as well as storm wastewater run-off. Even feed distribution is critical in a properly operating API separator. WesTech uses proprietary conical distribution nozzles that evenly distribute influent that enhance gravity separation of free oil droplets along the length of the API unit. Designed according to API 421, WesTech API Separators combine state of the art separation, skimming and sludge transport technologies into a highly efficient primary oil separation device.

Sludge transport is accomplished with either a high strength polymeric chain and flight system or a hopper screw conveyor arrangement. Four shaft chain systems effectively collect settled solids and return at the surface to increase surface conveyance of floating oil. WesTech recommends the use of state of the art high molecular weight polymeric chain and flight components for strength and corrosion resistance. Stainless steel and carbon steel options are also available. All WesTech API Separators can be equipped with VOC containment covers. Both fixed and floating styles are available.
