WesTech pressure filtration systems are designed for both municipal and industrial water treatment where the removal of suspended solids, algae, organic matter, iron, manganese and other precipitates in ground or surface water supplies are required. When used as pretreatment equipment, these filters will prolong the life and efficiency of ion exchange resins and membrane systems.
To ensure consistent filter performance at high flow rates, all WesTech multi-media filters are supplied with a graded, coarse to fine mixed media filter bed.The inverse size gradation of the media particles increases the solids storage capacity of the filter and allows suspended matter to be captured and held throughout the depth of the filter. Breakthrough and media upset are minimized by the direct retention underdrain.
"Package" Designs WesTech filters are available in multi-tank configurations. Systems can be skid mounted, pre-piped, or shipped loose for field assembly on concrete pads. As a result, jobsite installation requirements and start-up expenses are kept to a minimum. Trained field service personnel are available for assistance at start-up.
Standard Features The carbon steel vessel is constructed in accordance with the provisions of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. The exterior of the vessel is commercially sandblasted followed by one shop coat of rust inhibitive primer. The interior is finish coated with a NSF potable water coating. The vessel is fitted with lifting lugs for handling and placement. The vessel is provided with one 12 inch by 16 inch, elliptical manway. The 24 inch and 30 inch diameter filters are provided with one 6 inch by 8 inch handhole in the top head only.
Interior Piping The vessel is provided with an influent/waste collection header, and an underdrain header or plate with the required number of connections for the underdrain system.
Automatic Control Valves All automatic valves wafer-type butterfly valves and provide a drip-tight shut-off. Valve bodies are cast iron or steel, and rubber-seated seals. Valve discs are corrosion resistant, designed for smooth flow characteristics.
Control Panel The UL and ETL listed* control panel houses all of the electrical devices required for automatic control of the filtration system. The filter controls perform the following automatic functions:
- Automatic backwash of the filter takes place under high filter headloss conditions with provisions for manual override. All cycles of the automatic backwash sequences are fully adjustable on a cam timer or PLC.
- A filter headloss indicator is supplied to predict theapproaching backwash cycle.
- Running lights are mounted on the front of the control panel to indicate when the filter is operating (green light) or backwashing (amber light).
Advantages • Suspended Solids Removal • Iron and Mangenese Removal • Algae and Organic Removal • Process Pretreatment
