WesTech Engineering, Inc. announced today it has signed an agreement with Siemens Industry, Inc. to purchase the conventional water treatment business that includes the Microfloc and General Filter product portfolios. The purchase strategically complements WesTech’s ability to offer the water industry the service and products it needs to meet increasingly stringent treatment requirements and growing demand for clean water.
Biological Nutrient Removal Restores River Habitat on Long Island
WesTech Engineering, Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah, is helping to restore the river habitat of the Patchogue River and the Great South Bay by employing innovative technologies for the removal of nutrients being discharged by the Patchogue Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) located on the southern shore of Long Island in New York. As a part of this expansion and upgrade, WesTech supplied two STM-Aerotor™ Biological Nutrient Removal Systems and two 55-foot-diameter secondary clarifiers featuring the proprietary Clarifier Optimization Package (COP™) design.
New Installation Reduces Turbidity and Total Organic Carbon in Alabama
WesTech Engineering has supplied critical equipment in the construction of the High Point Water Treatment Plant near Henager, Alabama. Built in response to growing populations in and around Henager, the new plant has reduced turbidity and total organic carbon (TOC), increased water quality, and simplified operations and maintenance.
WesTech Engineering of Salt Lake City, Utah, has successfully utilized the SuperDisc™ Disc Filter in a pilot study to treat the effluent water from the Clinton Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to less than 0.1 mg/L of total phosphorus (TP).
Advanced Clarifier Design Increases Treatment Capacity at Miami WWTP
WesTech Engineering, Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah, has helped to increase the treatment capacity at the Miami Dade South District Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) by 60 million gallons per day (MGD). WesTech has supplied four new 195' diameter clarifiers and retrofitted six additional 195' diameter clarifiers with the proprietary Clarifier Optimization Package (COP™) design. All ten clarifiers are now installed and online. The final two units were commissioned on December 7, 2011.
New Filtration Technology: WWETCO Compressible Media FlexFilter™ Gaining Momentum
WWETCO, LLC of Canton, GA is commissioning their recently installed WWETCO FlexFilter™ system for the current wastewater system improvements for the City of Lamar, Missouri. This compressible media filter has been installed following a lagoon treatment process and is being used for the removal of algae prior to additional treatment in a subsequent nitrification process.
New Filtration Technology Introduced at WEFTEC Los Angeles
The recent 2011 Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) was attended by over 17,000 professionals in the water and wastewater treatment industry. Held in Los Angeles, California more than 900 companies exhibited the latest technologies in process technology for liquid-solids separation. Many technical papers were presented by industry experts in this vital field.
WesTech Engineering, Inc. has opened a new business unit in India, the fifth country in which WesTech has business units. WesTech India commenced business on April 1st with offices located in New Delhi and Chennai, giving WesTech reach into both northern and southern India. An additional office will soon be opened in Mumbai, giving WesTech reach into central India, as well.

WesTech has expanded its partnership with Nordic Water Products AB to bring the ZICKERT Shark™ Sludge Removal System to North America. These products are available through WesTech as of March 1st, 2011.
